San Antonio Scorpions News Release

The North American Soccer League has suspended Scorpions midfielder Kevin Harmse for six games, and forward Esteban Bayona for two games for their actions following the post-game incidents at Toyota Field on August 31st after the match between the Scorpions and Minnesota United FC. Both players were also fined by the league.

"Kevin Harmse's conduct following the game was unacceptable and the league is holding him accountable for his actions, and supplemental discipline from our organization will be forthcoming," said Scorpions President and General Manager Howard Cornfield. "We believe that Esteban Bayona's penalty was excessive when compared to the other disciplinary measures handed out, or in this case, not handed out, and we have vehemently expressed our unhappiness to the league office."

Both players will be ineligible for this weekend's clash with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers on Saturday, September 7th at Lockhart Stadium. Bayona is eligible to return on Saturday September 21st when the Scorpions take on the Carolina RailHawks at Toyota Field. Bayona has taken 14 shots in 527 minutes in 11 appearances this season for San Antonio.

Harmse will be eligible to return in the third to last NASL game of the season for the Scorpions on October 19th in Tampa Bay against the Rowdies. The Canadian has played in 1342 minutes over 15 starts, scoring one goal and collecting three assists in 2013.
