Nashville SC Update

October 1, 2023 - Major League Soccer (MLS) - Nashville SC News Release

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Oct. 1, 2023) - Nashville Soccer Club (12W-9L-9D, 45 pts.) clinched its fourth playoff berth in four years as an MLS club with its scoreless draw against Seattle Sounders FC in its first of three matches across seven days. The result also extended Nashville SC's unbeaten streak to five matches.

Nashville SC's playoff berth saw it become the fourth ever team in MLS to make the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs through all first four years of its existence. The Boys in Gold join Chicago Fire FC, Houston Dynamo FC and Seattle Sounders SC in holding this record. Nashville SC currently sits at seventh in the Eastern Conference with 45 points and four matches left to earn more points and move farther up the standings. Two of these four matches will unfold this week, as Nashville SC will host Orlando City SC (15W-7L-9D, 54 pts.) on Wednesday, Oct. 4 at GEODIS Park before traveling northeast to take on Philadelphia Union (14W-8L-9D, 51 pts.) at Subaru Park on Saturday, Oct. 7.

Nashville SC holds a 3W-1L-4D record across series history in competition with Orlando City SC. The two sides clashed in April at Exploria Stadium in Florida and will meet for the second and final time this season at GEODIS on Wednesday. Nashville SC holds a 1W-2L-2D record across series history with Philadelphia Union. This will mark Nashville SC's first trip to Subaru Park since Nov. 28, 2021 for an Audi 2021 MLS Cup Playoffs match.

Nashville SC will rely on its Landon Donovan MLS MVP candidate Hany Mukhtar to connect with attacking weapons Sam Surridge, Jacob Shaffelburg, Teal Bubury and Fafá Picault. Mukhtar is tied at first position in a tightly contested MLS Golden Boot race alongside Luciano Acosta and Giorgia Giakoumakis with 15 goals. Mukhtar has contributed to at least one goal in 56 different regular season games since the start of the 2021 season, three more than any other MLS player in that time, followed by Acosta with 53 contributions.

The Boys in Gold continue to be stellar on defense, as well, as they recorded the team's tenth shutout of the season on Saturday, Sept. 30. Nashville SC has allowed the fewest goals in MLS at 28 goals in 30 matches, 0.93 goals per game. The Boys in Gold have only conceded nine goals at home through the season.
