February 27, 2024 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Nashville SC News Release
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Boys in Gold will host Liga Dominicana de Fútbol side Moca FC at GEODIS Park on Wednesday at 8:15 p.m. CT for the second leg of the club's Round One Concacaf Champions Cup (CCC) match. The second leg of the Round One series will be the first-ever Concacaf Champions Cup match in Music City. Tickets for Wednesday's match are still available at nashvillesc.com. The winner of the two-leg series, which Nashville SC leads 3-0 on aggregate, will advance to face Inter Miami CF in the CCC Round of 16 beginning March 7.
Here are five things to know for Wednesday's contest, airing live at 8:15 p.m. CT on FS2, TUDN, and Fubo TV:
Wednesday's match marks the second meeting between the two clubs in just six days. Last Thursday, Nashville SC shut out Moca FC 3-0 at Estadio Cibao in the Dominican Republic behind goals from midfielder Hany Mukhtar, forward Sam Surridge, and forward Tyler Boyd.
When Nashville SC takes the pitch Wednesday night, the club will attempt to begin its 2024 season with three straight shutouts in all competitions. Following last Thursday's 3-0 victory over Moca FC, the Boys in Gold battled the New York Red Bulls to a scoreless draw on Sunday in the team's MLS season opener.
The final whistle Wednesday night will cap a stretch of three matches in six days for the Boys in Gold. The club will then travel to Colorado to face the Colorado Rapids in MLS play on Saturday, March 2 for the team's fourth match in 10 days. With a Round One series win Wednesday night, Nashville SC will advance to the Concacaf Champions Cup Round of 16 and, including MLS play, will take the pitch seven times in 21 days at the conclusion of that round.
In its fifth MLS season, Nashville SC is hosting its first home Concacaf Champions Cup match at GEODIS Park on Wednesday night. The CCC, which began in 1962, is the Concacaf region's premiere men's club competition.
Should Nashville SC advance to the CCC Round of 16, the Boys in Gold will face off against Inter Miami CF in a rematch of last year's inaugural Leagues Cup Final. Both Nashville SC and Inter Miami CF qualified for this year's CCC by reaching the Leagues Cup 23 Final last season.
