Nashville SC News Release
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Nashville Soccer Club announced today the contract extension of Designated Player Hany Mukhtar through 2026 with an option for the 2027 season. Joined by General Manager Mike Jacobs, Mukhtar officially announced his extension by addressing fans in a special live announcement prior to warmups for the club's Concacaf Champions Cup Round of 16 match against Inter Miami CF.
"Hany has played such a special role for our club, as well as our city, and we are very proud to see him commit to being a part of the present and future here in Nashville," said Nashville SC General Manager Mike Jacobs.
"Nashville, super excited to tell you that my journey here continues!" said Mukhtar. "I'm excited to sign a new deal with Nashville SC and keep building on what we've started. This city has embraced me with open arms and I'm happy to call Nashville home. I salute the fans, whose energy fuels our drive to achieve greatness. Big thanks to the club, our dedicated coaches, and the supportive staff behind the scenes for believing in me. Thanks to my teammates for the battles we've fought together, and to my family for their love and support. Here's to more victories, both on and off the field."
Mukhtar, who was signed as the team's first Designated Player in 2019, is the club's all-time leader in goals, assists, and points, and in 2022 was named the MLS Most Valuable Player after leading the league in goals with 23.
In addition to this recognition and the Golden Boot trophy in 2022, Mukhtar is a two-time MLS All Star (2022, 2023) and three-time MLS Best XI selection (2021, 2022, 2023). He also owns the fastest hat trick in MLS history (three goals in six minutes).
Since joining the club for its inaugural MLS season in 2020, Mukhtar has appeared in 113 MLS regular season matches, scoring 58 goals and registering 38 assists. In the MLS Cup Playoffs, he has four goals in eight starts. Outside of league play, Mukhtar has appeared in 12 matches for the Boys in Gold across all competitions (Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, Leagues Cup, Concacaf Champions Cup), registering six goals and eight assists.
Nashville SC signed the German midfielder as its first Designated Player in August 2019 after acquiring his rights from the Seattle Sounders in exchange for $100,000 in General Allocation Money. Prior to joining the Boys in Gold, Mukhtar was a member of Danish Superliga club Brøndby IF.
