San Angelo Saints News Release
SAN ANGELO â The San Angelo Saints today introduced the team's new mascot to the media at the West Central Wireless/West Central Net offices on Knickerbocker Road. The mascot is a large, fluffy St. Bernard dog complete with the emergency 1st aide barrel around its neck.
"We wanted a mascot that would be very kid-friendly," said Saints President Jim Cook. "Plus, the mascot will add atmosphere to our games and will also be available for appearances at hospitals, libraries, school carnivals, church functions, birthday parties and other events."
The Saints are also inviting the public to enter a "Name the Mascot" contest this week. Anyone with an idea for a name can mail, fax or email their entry to the Saints office at 3111 Knickerbocker Road. The Saints' fax number is 944-2464 and the email address is info@sanangelosaints.com. To be included in the contest, entries must include an address and phone number. The winner of the contest will receive two Saints season tickets for the 2003-04 season. A name will be chosen for the mascot and announced on Monday, July 21st.
The Saints mascot is going directly into action with appearances already scheduled this week at the downtown library Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. and at the Kid's Kingdom Park Thursday from 7-8 p.m. For information on mascot appearances for other functions and events call the Saints office at 944-6253.
