Nadine Angerer and Germany Face off against Thailand Today

CHICAGO (June 15, 2015) - Nadine Angerer and Germany face off against Thailand today at 4 p.m. ET with the top spot in Group B on the line at Winnipeg Stadium in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
The world-No. 1 Germans were held to a 1-1 draw Thursday with 11th-ranked Norway, with Maren Mjelde's 61st-minute free kick canceling out Anja Mittag's opening goal in the 6th minute.
Angerer, who is set to retire from international soccer following the conclusion of the tournament, made two saves to help Germany earn the draw and maintain their place atop Group B heading into their final match of the group stage.
The Portland Thorns FC goalkeeper has served as the Germany captain since 2011 and made her 141st appearance for her country in the game against Norway.
The draw snapped a five-game win streak in group stage matches for the Germans, who have only lost one contest at that stage in the history of the FIFA Women's World Cup (a 2-1 defeat to Japan at the 1995 tournament in Sweden).
The match Monday will be the first meeting at the World Cup between the two-time world champions Germany and Thailand, who are making their debut this year at the tournament.
Thailand comes into the match sitting third in Group B - but just one point behind Germany and Norway - following their first-ever victory at the World Cup, a 3-2 win over the Ivory Coast on Thursday.
Neither of the teams can finish lower than third in the group, so at stake in the match Monday is whether the heavily-favored Germans or Thailand will earn an automatic berth into the Round of 16 or be made to sweat out results from other groups in the hopes of securing one of the four third-place spots in the knockout stages.
