Washington, D.C. - The Washington Mystics is launching its new Camps + Clinics initiative. The Camps + Clinics initiative, sponsored by Inova Health System, will host the Mystics first annual youth basketball summer camp program. The camps are open to boys and girls ages 5-16 and will focus on basketball fundamentals with direct instruction from professionals including former University of Maryland standout, Christy Winters-Scott and former WNBA players Monique Ambers and Jessie Hicks. In addition, campers will receive instructions from current Washington Mystics coaches and players.

"We are extremely excited about introducing a youth basketball camp program this summer. Our roster is comprised of elite, world-class athletes and the camp program gives the area's youth participants the only local opportunity to enhance their skill sets, from beginner to advanced, with direction from professional players and staff," said David Deal, Senior Director of Business Development. "We have 20 camps scheduled for the inaugural summer with locations throughout the Greater Washington area and will look to build upon the program with various clinics and camps throughout the calendar year."

Every camper will receive an official camp T-shirt, camp photo, voucher to 2010 Mystics Camper Appreciation Night on Friday, August 20, drawstring backpack, and certificate of participation. For more information on the Camps + Clinic initiative, visit www.washingtonmystics.com/camps.
