Milwaukee - The Milwaukee Mustangs are excited to announce the signing of offensive lineman James Economou to the roster. The move is expected to provide Milwaukee with extra depth on the line after recent signee Michael Diaz was placed on Injured Reserve on Wednesday after playing in only two games.
Economou (6'6, 335, Southern Connecticut State) enters his rookie season in the Arena Football League after playing four seasons with the Division II Owls. In 2008 and 2009, he was a First-Team All-Northeast-10 Conference selection after helping pave the way for an Owl offense that ranked among the league leaders in several offensive categories. A Preseason All-American by Consensus Draft Services in both 2009 and 2010, Economou was also recognized as a 2008 All-Region selection by Don Hansen's Football Gazette.
Economou will join the Milwaukee Mustangs (4-8) as they travel to Jacksonville tomorrow night to swim with the Sharks (11-1) at 6 p.m. (CST) in Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena. The game will be broadcasted live on 540 ESPN Milwaukee radio and espnmilwaukee.com and can be viewed online on NiFTyTV.
The Mustangs return home on July 2nd when they do battle against the divisional rival Cleveland Gladiators (7-5) at 7 p.m. at the Bradley Center.
