Tampa Bay Storm News Release

TAMPA -- Amarri Jackson caught five touchdown passes from quarterback Brian Zbydniewski (Zeb-eh-dew-ski) and Tampa Bay held off a rally by Orlando in the final seconds and the Storm defeated the Predators, 46-44, Friday night in an Arena Football League game on the Amalir Motor Oil Field at the St. Pete Times Forum before 11,151. Jackson, out of South Florida, collected 111 yards on 10 catches as the Storm (6-7) won its 4th game in its last five games. Zbydniewski connected on 6 TD passes and 224 yards on 19 of 32 passes. Jackson now has 17 TDs in his last 6 games. Quarterback Nick Hill led the Preds (8-5) with 6 scoring passes and 268 yards. But it was defensive line led by Jermaine Smith, Tim McGill and Jarriett Buie, who had 5.5 quarterback sacks that held Orlando to 16 first-half points. Defensive back Marcus Udell and Erich McIntosh, who had an interception return for a score, also aided the stout Storm defense. With the Storm leading 39-16, Orlando made a comback by scoring the next 21 points. The Preds ended the third period with a Hill TD pass to Robert Quiroga, but then pair of Tampa turnovers cost the Storm 14 more points to start the 4th quarter. Sometimes it is hard to believe that defense can be played so well, but that's why the Storm's first half performance allowed a 16-point lead. The defensive line, including Dukes had 5 and on-half sacks in the first 30 minutes. Zbydniewski had another good start in the first half, connecting with Whittaker and Jackson twice each to give the Storm a 32-16 lead.
