Mustangs Add New Talent to 2012 Roster

MILWAUKEE (November 8, 2011) - The Milwaukee Mustangs announce the assignment of defensive back Richard Council (6'1, 200, Indiana) to the 2012 roster.

Council is entering his first year in the AFL after perfecting his football talents at the University of Indiana. He was at the top of the list for players to watch for the 2011 NFL draft during pro day in which Council participated in workouts before NFL coaches, scouts and personnel.

This Indiana graduate received the team's 2010 Al Barsch "Hang Tough" Award, given to the player who has hung tough and fought through adversity. He made 20 career starts and ended his Indiana tenure with 88 tackles, 70 solo, and 14 passes defended.

Before becoming a Hoosier, Council earned All-District 10 5A honors as a senior wide receiver and cornerback at Newman Smith High School (Carrollton, Tex.) for head coach Bobby Bounds. He caught 33 passes for 578 yards and six touchdowns, had 34 tackles, two for a loss, three passes broken up and one blocked kick.
