Muskegon Lumberjacks Hockey Schools to Host Checking Clinics

MUSKEGON, Michigan (March 20th) - The Muskegon Lumberjacks are pleased to announce a Youth Hockey Checking Clinic that will be taking place during two separate Tuesdays in the month of April on the 1st and 15th from 6:00-7:00 pm at the L.C. Walker Arena.

The Checking Clinic is designed for players at the Pee-Wee and Bantam levels to not only learn the proper techniques on taking and giving a body check but also the important options and choices players have when it relates to checking an opponent.

"It's important to instruct the fundamentals of proper body checking to our younger players so that they are well-prepared and educated when continuing on to higher levels of their youth hockey careers," said Lumberjacks Assistant General Manager and Associate Head Coach Rich McKenna. "This clinic is designed to inform our youth about playing the game the right way while demonstrating the importance of safety within the game of hockey so that they can become well-rounded players as they continue to develop."

Along with Rich McKenna, the Checking Clinics will also be under the instruction of Lumberjacks Assistant Coach and former Michigan State Spartan Alternate Captain and St. Louis Blues draft pick Trevor Nill. Both sessions are essentially the same with the cost for one session being only $15. If parents are interested in registering their child for both sessions, they will receive a discounted price of just $25.
