MOLINE, Ill. (March 3, 2010) - Matt Robertson and Robin Bouchard both scored twice and the Muskegon Lumberjacks broke loose for four goals in a span of six minutes and 12 seconds in the second period on the way to a 7-1 win Wednesday night over the host Quad City Mallards, proud International Hockey League (IHL) affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers.

The Lumberjacks' second period onslaught started when, with Muskegon on the power play, John DiPace pounced on a loose puck in the Mallard goalmouth to double what had been a 1-0 lead at 11:31 of the second. At 14:10 Bouchard drove home the third Lumberjack goal from the top of the right wing circle. Just one minute and 28 seconds later the lead stretched to 4-0 when Robertson's shot ricocheted off the post and the cross bar before dropping in over the goal line. Bouchard's breakaway goal capped off the outburst at 17:43.

63 seconds into the third period Patrick Levesqe provided the Mallards' only goal with a blast from the top of the right wing circle. The Lumberjacks, however, would tack on two more to pad the final margin. Robertson jammed the puck in in a scramble at 3:25 and at 12:29, after the Mallards had emptied the net for an extra attacker, Michel Beausoleil scored the final goal into the gaping Quad City cage.

The Lumberjacks gave an early sign of how the evening might go when Billy Collins scored the first goal of the game from the side of the net just 26 seconds into the first period. Though the contest remained tight for the following period and a half, the Mallards were foiled repeatedly by Muskgeon goaltender Matt Lundin, who would finish with 40 saves- in the end Mallards fell despite outshooting the Lumberjacks 41-36.

The Mallards Friday night return to action on home ice against the Dayton Gems 7:05 p.m. The Mallards will team up with the Salvation Army for a clothing drive Friday night- fans are encouraged to bring used clothing to the game, which will then be collecting by Salvation Army staff at i wireless Center entrances.
