Lafayette Wildcatters News Release

Lafayette, LA - Acadiana Mudbugs' QB Bo Bartik and DB Kemmie Lewis have received Players of the Quarter awards from the Southern Indoor Football League by virtue from votes of league coaches and SIFL staff.

Bartik was named Offensive Player of the Quarter by an unanimous vote. Since the first game, Bartik has thrown 520 yards and 11 touchdowns.

"It's an honor to receive this award," said Bartik. "I have to give a lot of credit to Fourcade and all of the offensive team. We all believed in what we were doing. I feel honored and blessed."

Bartik is not quite satisfied with the Mudbugs' performance. "We need to stay consistent throughout the season. We need to stop with the mistakes and with the turnovers. If we can do that, only good things can happen. We are continuing to get better."

"I don't expect anything less of Bo," said Head Coach John Fourcade. "He is a very smart, a very gutty and a very intelligent quarterback on the football team. He has played long enough to know what to do with the football."

Kemmie Lewis is tied for Defensive Player of the Quarter along with Austin's Kevin Earvine. Lewis was named Defensive Player of the Week during the first week of the season. He has had six interceptions, has had one touchdown and has had 16 tackles total in the past four weeks.

"I am very thankful for this prestige honor along with the help of my fellow teammates," said Lewis. "This goal can only be achieved through hard work, dedication and determination."

"Kemmie is a rookie in the indoor game," said Fourcade. "He has so much athletic ability and I'm very impressed by this first year player. He is as professional as they come, on and off the field. He is a very good asset to the football team and I am happy to coach him."

"My hat goes off to both of them. They are both very deserving. There is a reason we are 3-0, and it is because of these guys."

Stephen Barrett, DB for the Mudbugs, was given Honorable Mention on the defensive side.

John Paul Jones, from the Louisiana Swashbucklers, was named Lineman player of the week, and Darrick Wallace, from the Austin Turfcats, was named Special Teams player of the week.

Acadiana (3-0) travels to Louisiana (2-1) while Austin (2-1) hosts Houma (0-3) Saturday in week five of the SIFL's inaugural season.
