Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release

BOSSIER CITY, LA - The Mudbugs were out at the Louisiana Boardwalk over the weekend helping to raise money for the Alzheimer's Association of Shreveport. The organization held its 2008 "Memory Walk" on Saturday morning at the Boardwalk to help raise funds and awareness for the fight against Alzheimer's. Members of the Mudbugs front office staff and Assistant Coach Trevor Buchanan were in attendance at the event.

"I've had people very close to me who have been affected by this condition, so I can understand how tough it is to deal with," Buchanan said. "My family and I definitely wanted to be out here helping to support this cause."

The Memory Walk also featured a raffle for a number of prizes from local businesses and a silent auction for a Mudbugs stick autographed by the entire 2007-2008 team. All the money raised and donated went to the Alzheimer's Association.

The Memory Walk is the nation's largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer care, support and research. Held annually in hundreds of communities across the country, this inspiring event calls on volunteers of all ages to become champions in the fight against Alzheimer's. Since 1989, Memory Walk has raised more than $200 million to help those battling Alzheimer's disease.

The mission of the Alzheimer's Association is to eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.
