Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release
BOSSIER CITY, LA â Starting this weekend, Mudbugs fans will be able to do something that has never been done before at the CenturyTel Center. The team's radio broadcasts will be available inside the building for fans to bring headphone radios and listen while they watch the game live.
The in-house broadcasts will be available on the 108 FM frequency only for fans who are inside the CenturyTel Center. While the structure of the building does not allow for the team's normal radio signal to enter inside, the new in-house frequency will give fans the chance to watch the game while learning about hockey, the two teams, and the Central Hockey League. Steve Mears is in his second season as the play-by-play voice of the Mudbugs. He is joined for home broadcasts by color commentator Scott Tarkowski.
"We hope to do a lot with our new in-house broadcasts this season," said Mudbugs Director of Media Relations & Broadcasting Steve Mears. "I would like to encourage everyone to bring a radio to the game and we'll be giving our fans as much information as possible to get an inside track on hockey."
The Mudbugs have also announced a brand new extended postgame show for all Saturday night home broadcasts. "Hockey Hotline" will air immediately after the Christus Schumpert Postgame Show on the team's flagship radio station KWKH 1130 AM. Fans will be able to call in after the game with their questions and comments about the evening's Mudbugs game. This Saturday's broadcast after the Mudbugs take on the New Mexico Scorpions will be the first edition of the new extended postgame show.
The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs open the seventh season of hockey in the Ark-La-Tex on Friday night with a 7:05 p.m. faceoff against the Austin Ice Bats at the CenturyTel Center. The first 2,500 fans receive a Mudbugs Rally Towel courtesy of American Dust Control. On Saturday, the Mudbugs meet the New Mexico Scorpions at 7:05 p.m. The first 3,000 fans receive a magnetic schedule courtesy of Pizza Hut.
