BOSSIER CITY, LA - The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs of the Central Hockey League today announced the signing of defenseman Jamie Milam for the 2010-11 season. Milam emerged as an impact player at both ends of the ice late last season after signing with the 'Bugs in February.
Milam, 26, played the majority of last season in Switzerland before returning to North America and signing with Bossier-Shreveport for the stretch run. In 12 regular season appearances, the 6-0, 200-pound blueliner scored two goals and assisted on four others while finishing the year on a four-game point streak.
"Jamie was a late addition to our team last year, but he immediately brought so many positive attributes to the table, especially in the playoffs," said Head Coach Scott Muscutt. "He's a guy who's got some dynamic offensive abilities, a great shot to help our powerplay and sound defensive instincts. He is a welcome addition, and I think our fans will enjoy seeing him on the blueline this year."
The Lake Orion, Michigan native proved to be a key performer during the 'Bugs postseason run, contributing seven points (3g, 4a) in 11 games as the club came within one victory of the President's Cup Finals. All three of his playoff goals (two of which were game-winners) came in the Northern Conference Finals against the eventual-Champion Rapid City Rush.
Following a four-year collegiate career at Northern Michigan, Milam spent his first two pro seasons with Gwinnett of the ECHL. After racking up 22 goals as a rookie in 06-07, he set career highs in assists, points and penalty minutes for the Gladiators the following year. He also played professionally overseas in Denmark, Sweden and Switzerland prior to joining the Mudbugs.
