
Mudbugs Fall to the Jackalopes

The Shreveport Mudbugs (14-12-5) weren't able to get much going all night as they fell to the Odessa Jackalopes, 4-1 Friday night at Ector County Coliseum.
Odessa scored a pair of goals in the 1st period and the shots were tied at 11 after one period of play. Shreveport went into the 1st INT. locker room looking to regroup.
Trailing 3-0 late in the 2nd period, Lukass Sicevs was able to slam home his fifth goal of the year from the left wing to get the Bugs on the board at 19:27. Anton Rubstov grabbed the only assist and the Bugs went into the 2nd INT. locker room trailing just 3-1. Shreveport led in SOG, 26-25 after two periods of play.
The Mudbugs put a strong push in the 3rd period, but Odessa netminder Kade Phipps was sharp all night making 36 saves on the night. Jared Christy led all scorers with three points (2 G, 1 A) as he tapped in an EN goal at 18:24 to put the game out of reach at 4-1.
Leo Chuard made 29 saves in a losing effort.
The Mudbugs will seek a split in this two-game set tomorrow night against the Jacks as the two teams square it up at 7:11 p.m. at the Ector County Coliseum.?
