Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release

BOSSIER CITY, LA -- Ken Carroll set a new all-time Mudbugs record for saves in a game with 57 as the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs held on to beat Tulsa 6-3 on Monday night.

Both teams came flying in the first period of play. It didn't take Cam Abbott long to bury a shot from the high slot at 9:05, assisted by Chris Brassard's picture perfect pass. The goal set a new CHL season high as Abbott now has goals in seven straight games.

Ken Carroll and Mudbugs turned aside a five-on-three opportunity for Tulsa that acted as a turning point for the Bossier-Shreveport offense. Joe Ori corralled a rebound at 5:54 and picked the top left corner for a power play goal. Cam Abbott later gained the puck on a turnover and fired a backhand shot by Bill Ruggiero to give Bossier-Shreveport a three goal edge. The Bugs continued their power play success when Ryan Fairbarn's one-timer beat Ruggiero at 18:11.

The period got ugly, with three game misconducts handed out. Chris Gustafson and Daniel Pegoraro were given five minute majors for board checking and Tulsa's Andrew Nahirniak was assessed a five minute major and a game misconduct for elbowing Cam Abbott. Abbott would return to score a third goal, his third hat trick of the season. Tulsa took advantage of multiple five-on-three power plays as Spencer Carbery scored once and Chase Decker scored twice. Scott Muscutt was thrown out of the game in the final minutes of the third period.
