Batavia Muckdogs News Release
Today's Game- The Muckdogs middle game of a three game series against the Connecticut Tigers, NYPL affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. This is the only meeting of the season between the two teams.
That was yesterday- Chance Kirby struck out 12 batters through five innings, and only gave up one hit through six. The Tigers were able to get two extra base hits from Nick Ames that help bring in two of the three runs they scored.
Donadio digging in- In the last five games, Michael Donadio has brought a bright spot to the lineup. He's batting .357 in the last five games. He's tallied five hits and scored four runs in that span as well. He left St. John's with the second most all-time hits with 268.
Bringing back big bats- Both JD Osborne and Jerar Encarnacion are in lineup for Batavia in today's matchup for the second straight day. Encarnacion had the league's top average before going down, and Osborne had hits in eight of his last ten before leaving the lineup.
Runs, Runs, Runs- Batavia has some of the top scorers in the league, with Sean Reynolds sitting in first place with 19 runs scored, Jerar Encarnacion with 15 in fifth, and Demetrius Sims in sixth with 13. The Muckdogs have three of the top six run scorers in the league, and sit in fourth in total runs scored with 118 total runs this season.
Beginning from behind- The Muckdogs have had trouble with giving up early leads in ballgames. Batavia has trailed after the fifth inning on 15 different occasions so far this season, and have gone 4-11 in those contests.
Recent Roster Action- On July 9th, LHP Karl Craigie was optioned to the GCL, and RHP Eli Villalobos was assigned to the Batavia Muckdogs.
