
Muckdogs Announce Opening Day Starter

The Batavia Muckdogs announced today that 18-year-old Edgar Garcia, RHP, will be the starting pitcher on opening day for the Muckdogs Tuesday at Dwyer Stadium.
Garcia was signed as an amateur free agent on October 26, 2004. He was recently rated 9th-best prospect in Phillies minor league system by Baseball America. He began his professional career in 2005 pitching for the Gulf Coast Phillies (R). During his 10 appearances there (all starts), he led the team in wins (4), innings (55.2) and starts. He pitched 6.0 innings or more in 6 of his 10 starts (60%). The 6-2 right hander was born on September 20, 1987 in Las Matas de Farfan, Dominican Republic. The Muckdogs will play 76 games during the 2006 season, with their season opener scheduled to begin at 7:05 PM on Tuesday June 20th, when they host the Auburn Doubledays.
