
More Than 55,000 Tickets Sold For Mexico vs. Iceland Match On March 24 In Charlotte

NEW YORK (Monday, March 15, 2010) - More than 55,000 tickets have been sold for the international soccer match between World Cup-bound Mexico and Iceland, scheduled for Wednesday, March 24 (8 p.m. ET), at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, NC. Presented by Visa, the game in Charlotte is the third stop of the current six-city Mexico U.S. tour that will also visit New York, Chicago and Houston. Mexico is undefeated through its first two tour dates, having defeated Bolivia 5-0 at Candlestick Park in San Francisco and New Zealand 2-0 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.
Event organizers further announced that the lower level at the New Meadowlands Stadium is approaching capacity for the Friday, May 7 game against Ecuador, presented by AT&T, and that $30 seats in the 300 upper level are now available for purchase. The match will represent the first-ever international sporting event at the new state-of-the-art facility in East Rutherford, NJ.
Seats continue to be available for all U.S. Tour dates, which include games on Monday, May 10 against Senegal in Chicago's Soldier Field, and Thursday, May 13 against Angola at Reliant Stadium in Houston. Tickets are available via Ticketmaster and select local tiendas. The Federación Mexicana de Fútbol encourages its fans purchase tickets using their Visa cards.
Fans in Charlotte are urged to arrive at the stadiums early to avoid traffic and long lines, and enjoy Futbol Fiesta, the 120,000 sq. ft. interactive fan zone featuring live entertainment, autograph sessions by legendary Mexican players, sponsor booths and giveaways. Futbol Fiesta opens four hours before each match.
"El Tri" continues its road to the World Cup this in Mexico when it takes on North Korea on March 17 in Torreon, Mexico (TV: Telemundo), before the team's trip back to the States for the Charlotte game. The complete 2010 U.S. Tour schedule follows below:
