Kelowna Falcons News Release

For the second consecutive night the Kelowna Falcons would score in the bottom of the ninth inning to beat the Kitsap Bluejackets 5-4 on Friday night.

After the Bluejackets scored in the first inning the Falcons would storm back in the third scoring four times. Scotland Church would start the rally with a leadoff homerun, his first of the season. Later in the inning Darren Kolk would drive in Dawson Yates and Nathan Robertson with a one out double. Reed Lavallee would score on a fielder's choice.

The Bluejackets would tie the game scoring in the fourth and fifth innings off Falcons' starter Caleb Olson. He would last four innings striking out two and scattering eight hits.

There was no scoring until the bottom of the ninth. Jarryd Klemm led off the inning with a single to left field and was moved to second on a Chandler Tracy ground out.

After Church was walked in favour of the force play, AJ Young came off the bench and delivered a single to left to score Klemm with the game winning run.

Karl Myers who pitched the top of the ninth inning out of the bullpen recorded his first win of the summer.

The Falcons (10-22) host the Bluejackets (12-23) in the series finale on Saturday night at Elks Stadium at 6:35pm. Fans are encouraged to bring their gently used baseball equipment for donation to the Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs. All donated items will stay in the Okanagan and help kids get an opportunity to learn the game with the proper equipment.

One of the most popular summer programs run by the Okanagan Boys and Girls Club is baseball. However due to lack of equipment, not all children get an opportunity to play. The Falcons are hoping the Baseball Tomorrow Equipment Drive will make a difference.

No piece of equipment is too big or small. We will accept bats, balls, bases, tees and gloves. Let's FILL THE VAN this Saturday night!
