August 21, 2007 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Manitoba Moose News Release
Today the Manitoba Moose announced their 2007 training camp schedule. The Moose will open camp on Sunday, September 23rd with medicals and physicals at the MTS Centre, followed by an open ice session at 2:30 p.m.. The team will then begin on-ice sessions on Monday, September 24th at the MTS Centre and remain there until Thursday, September 27th. Each day will consist of two different groups practicing in two different on-ice sessions in the morning beginning at 9:00 a.m.. Both sides will then participate in intra-squad games each day at 2:30 p.m. at the MTS Centre.
This season, the Moose will play a pair of exhibition games, as well as a "prospects" game prior to the regular season. The Moose will take on the Toronto Marlies in a pair of exhibition games, beginning with a meeting at the Fort Frances Memorial Sports Centre in Fort Frances, ON Friday, September 28th at 7:00 p.m. CT. The two will then move to the Dryden Memorial Arena in Dryden, ON to complete the exhibition schedule on Saturday, September 29th at 7:00 p.m. CT. This will be the first time the Moose and Marlies have met in the pre-season. Manitoba swept a pair of games over the Hamilton Bulldogs in Fort Frances and Dryden back in 2004. Prior to that, the Moose will also play the University of Manitoba Bisons in a "prospects" game to be played at the T.G. Center in Steinbach, MB. on Wednesday, September 26th at 7:30 p.m. CT. This will be the third time the Moose and Bisons have faced each other in pre-season action. In 2002, the Moose defeated the Bisons 7-3 and then in 2005, the two teams split a pair of games.
Following the exhibition games, the Moose will then resume daily practices until the season opener on Thursday, October 11th versus the Grand Rapids Griffins at the MTS Centre.
