Vermont Frost Heaves News Release

South Burlington, Vt.-In light of last week's expulsion of the Montreal Sasquatch from the Premier Basketball League, the Vermont Frost Heaves have announced that the two teams' Champlain Cup match-up, set for Thursday night, Feb. 12, at Burlington's Memorial Auditorium, has been cancelled.

Any non-season ticket holder who has purchased a ticket for the game may redeem the ticket for another Frost Heaves home game this season or get a refund from the original point of sale. Call the Flynn Theater Box Office at 802-86-FLYNN to make alternative arrangements. You may also call the Frost Heaves directly at 802-578-7056. Season ticket holders who so choose may use their ticket for Thursday's game to attend the "Slam for Sudan," a benefit featuring Vermont high-school dunkers and three-point shooters that will be held at Memorial Auditorium on Wednesday, March 25, at 6 p.m. The Champlain Cup competition will proceed with play among the remaining participating teams: the Frost Heaves, the Manchester Millrats, and the Quebec Kebekwa. All games involving Montreal will be classified as forfeit victories by the Sasquatch's opponent.

"We're very sorry to have to call the game off, especially on such short notice," said Frost Heaves president Alexander Wolff. In the meantime, we're thrilled to be teaming up with Global Reach Partnerships and its efforts to empower Sudanese refugees in our community. The entire Frost Heaves organization will be lending its support to this tremendous cause."

For more information about the event, go to www.theslamforsudan.org or call 802-272-2562.

The Frost Heaves, 7-4 and second in the Atlantic Division, return to PBL play on Saturday at 1:05 p.m. at the Barre Municipal Auditorium. Their opponent will be the defending league champion Rochester Razorsharks, whom Vermont defeated at the Blue Cross Arena on Jan. 19 to snap the hosts' 48-game home-court win streak. A special Valentine's Day "Two for 14" promotion will admit any two adults to the game for $14.

Tickets for all Frost Heaves games are available at the Flynn Box Office in person, by calling 802-86-FLYNN or online at flynntix.org. Tickets for Barre games only are also available at Allen Lumber in Barre and First in Fitness in Montpelier. For more information go to vermontfrostheaves.com. The Frost Heaves are proud to partner with the Vermont State Employees Credit Union and the Vermont Army National Guard.
