Kris Clark Named PBL Player of the Week

Chicago, IL - Wilmington Sea Dawgs guard Kris Clark was named PBL Player of the Week on Tuesday.

Clark, a 6-2 guard out of Utah State, received Player of the Week honors as he averaged 26.5 ppg, 4.5 rpg and 2.5 apg while shooting 48.3% from the field in two games this week.

"I'm thankful to get voted as Player of the Week," stated Clark. "I tried to take advantage of a situation that was given to me over these past two games with one of our starters (Alex Harper) being hurt. I did what I had to do to help our team get a share of the lead in our division."

Clark led the Sea Dawgs to a 2-0 week which included a 110-109 victory over the Augusta Groove where he scored a season-high 36 points including the decisive game winning shot with nine seconds left in regualtion. Clark finished off the week by scoring 17 points to go along with four rebounds and two assists in Wilmington's 100-91 road win over the Augusta Groove.

"Kris has really strengthened his defensive game over the past few weeks," said Wilmington Head Coach Dale Kuhl. "He has embraced a leadership role on the court in regards to our offense and it has resulted in some much needed wins for our team."

Clark currently leads the Sea Dawgs in assists at 3.1 per game, good for 17th in the PBL, and is the team's third leading scoring at 13.1 ppg.

"Kris is one of a couple of rookies on our team that has the ability to step up and play at a very high level," said Sea Dawgs Owner Pete Gratale. "I believe he is going to be a notable presence in the PBL for years to come."

Other nominees included Stanley Thomas of the Chicago Throwbacks, Kenny Langhorne of the Battle Creek Knights, Karl Rainey of the Buffalo Stampede, Desmond Ferguson of the Manchester Millrats and Cedric McGinnis of the Wilmington Sea Dawgs.
