Montgomery Maulers Schedule Open Tryouts

The Montgomery Maulers announce player tryouts for December 17, 2005 at Robert E. Lee High School, 225 Ann Street, Montgomery.
Registration will be at 9:00 AM for skill positions and kickers. Linemen will begin registering at 10:00 AM.
There is a tryout fee of $50.00 payable at the time of registration. Tryouts are open. Participants must be 19 years of age and up. Athletes planning to tryout for Montgomery's National Indoor Football league team should be aware that this is professional football and a tryout will affect their college eligibility. Additional tryout dates are January 21 and February 4, 2006. Participants should bring turf as well as gym shoes for the tryout. Players can pre-register on-line at www.montgomerymaulers.com or can pick up a registration form at the Maulers office at Eastdale Mall. The tryouts will be conducted by Maulers Head Coach James Shiver, and assistant coaches Carlos Clayton, Mike Williams and Kelvin Stokes. They will be assisted by several players from the Maulers 2005 division championship team.
2005 was the inaugural, history-making season for the Montgomery Maulers. Not only are the Maulers Montgomery's first professional indoor football team, they are also the first team in the NIFL to win a division championship in their first year.
The Maulers closed out the regular season with a dramatic 53-48 win over the Lubbock Gunslingers in front of 4,423 fans at Garrett Coliseum. The Maulers kept their season alive the following week by beating the Miami Morays in the first round of the league playoffs 63-35. The Maulers season ended the next week in their second playoff game with a 47-31 loss to the Rome Renegades.
The Montgomery Maulers will begin their season in March of 2006.
The Maulers dance team, the Red Hots, are having tryouts December 10, at the Maulers offices. There is a tryout fee of $25.00. To pre register call the Mauler office (334) 277-1881 or contact Top Dog Cheerleading at (334)-273-8002.
