The Pittsfield Suns (16-11) beat the Brockton Rox (20-9) 8-5 on Tuesday at Campanelli Stadium behind Edgar Montes, who collected three hits.
He doubled in the first inning and singled in the fourth and sixth innings.
Perry Kulaga struck out six, paving the way for a the Pittsfield Suns win. Kulaga allowed two earned runs, four hits and one walk over six innings.
It was a good day at the plate for the Brockton Rox's Jacob Marotta. Marotta went 3-4 and scored one run. He singled in the third, fifth, and seventh innings.
Sam Granoff pitched lights out for the Brockton Rox. The Pittsfield Suns managed just three hits off of the the Brockton Rox's pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out one during his five innings of work.
Matt Coppens (0-2) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just zero innings, walked one, struck out none, and allowed three runs.
