Monterey Bay FC News Release
SEASIDE, California - Monterey Bay F.C. (4-3-2, 14 points) welcomes Memphis 901 FC (3-5-0, 9 points) to Seaside for the very first time on Saturday. The contest is set for a 7 p.m. PT kickoff at Cardinale Stadium in Week 10 of the 2024 USL Championship regular season, presented by The Britannia Arms. Saturday's match will be broadcast locally via KION on FOX 35 (46.2 over the air, 35 Dish, 47 DirecTV and 3/702 HD Xfinity), with live streaming available on ESPN+.
Monterey Bay is expected to come into the match on the weekend with fresh legs after the squad saw a heavy rotation for its midweek U.S. Open Cup fixture in Sacramento. The Club is also expected to have Rafa Baca back in the lineup after the midfielder missed the previous two matches with an injury. More good news for the Crisp-and-Kelp, Walmer Martínez is officially eligible for a return to the squad now that his league suspension has been fully served and is in the rearview.
On the other hand, Memphis 901 FC enters the contest amidst a two-match winning streak after having lost its previous five matches. Memphis is also on a bit of a scoring tear right now, having scored seven total goals in those last two wins - a 3-0 result over Birmingham Legion FC and a 4-1 win against Tampa Bay Rowdies. Memphis' last loss - the fifth of its five game slide - came at home in AutoZone Park against these very same Crisp-and-Kelp. After an own goal gave 901 FC the lead in the opening minutes, Monterey Bay took control of the match with back-to-back goals by Tristan Trager and Alex Lara in the 68th and 70th minutes.
Having also won the inaugural meeting with Memphis 901 FC in 2023, which also took place at AutoZone Park, Monterey Bay F.C. currently owns the all-time head-to-head with a 2-0-0 record. The upcoming third match of the series will also feature its first change of scenery, as the two sides are set to play at Cardinale Stadium in Seaside for the first time in the matchup's history.
