BURLINGTON, VT --- The Vermont Lake Monsters used a five-run bottom of the fourth inning to open its 2008 season with a 6-4 victory over the Oneonta Tigers in New York-Penn League action Tuesday night at historic Centennial Field.
The Lake Monsters trailed 2-1 with one out in the fourth inning when they loaded the bases on a pair of walks and a hit batter. The Tigers were able to load the bases with two outs in the ninth on a single and two walks, but David Slovak came on for the Lake Monsters to end the game by getting Joaquin Guzman to groundout.
Brad Peacock (1-0) allowed two runs on two hits with four walks and two strikeouts over five innings to pick up the win for Vermont, while Mark Brackman (0-1) gave up all six Lake Monster runs on four hits in four innings for the loss.
