New Mexico Scorpions News Release

[RIO RANCHO, N.M.]-Jamie Herrington's rebound goal with less than two minutes remaining gave the Scorpions a 2-1 victory over Tulsa on Sunday afternoon. The win moved New Mexico to within four points of the final playoff spot in the Southern Conference.

With both teams at the back end of a three games in three-day stretch, a quick start was vital. Craig Macdonald put the Scorps on the board just 2:09 into the contest with his 33rd goal of the season.

Tulsa knew they would need the game's next goal and they got it in a hurry. Less than a minute into the second period, Brendon Hodge's wrist shot from the slot lit the lamp tying the game at one.

Oilers goaltender Kevin St. Pierre kept his team in the game making 50 saves, most against the Scorpions this season. New Mexico was very disciplined in the game, only called for a season low two penalty minutes.

During the second intermission the Santa Ana Star Casino dropped $10,000 from the rafters. Ten lucky contests were collecting as much as they can on the ice. Close to $2,000 was awarded to the winners.

The last week of the season will be busy for New Mexico. Thursday is their final regular season road game in Amarillo. Tune into the CHL Network for all the action starting at 6 p.m. Mountain Time.

On Friday and Saturday the Scorpions will host their rivals from Arizona. Come to the Santa Ana Star Center and enjoy Fan Appreciation Weekend." Both games start at 7:15 p.m.
