
Monarchs to be televised for franchise-record 13 games

SACRAMENTO, CALIF., March 9, 2006- The 2005 WNBA Champion Sacramento Monarchs today announced the organization's complete television schedule, a franchise-record 13 telecasts. The total local telecast package includes three games on News10 and five games on Comcast SportsNet (CSN). Nationally, the Monarchs will be featured five times, twice on ABC and three times on ESPN2.
The Monarchs will appear on News10 for the fourth season beginning with the WNBA's Opening Day on Saturday, May 20, against the Phoenix Mercury in a nationally televised game on ABC, at 1:00 p.m. The Monarchs first local News10 Monarchs telecast will be Friday, June 2, when they host the San Antonio Silver Stars, at 7:00 p.m., at ARCO Arena on Breast Health Awareness Night. Two additional Monarchs games will be locally televised on News10, as well as another nationally televised on ABC.

For the second season, Comcast SportsNet (CSN) will televise the Monarchs for five games. Their first Monarchs broadcast of the season will be on Tuesday, May 23, when Sacramento takes on the Chicago Sky, at 5:00 p.m., at UIC Pavilion. In addition to other games, CSN will also feature the second of two rematches of the 2005 WNBA Finals, this time with Sacramento taking on the Connecticut Sun on Friday, July 28, at 4:00 p.m. from Mohegan Sun Arena.

Jim Kozimor, in his eighth season with the franchise, will call the play-by-play for the Monarchs on both News10 and Comcast SportsNet, with Krista Blunk, returning to the color analyst position for her tenth season.
Sacramento will also play three games in the preseason. The first game will be on Friday, May 5, versus the New York Liberty at 7:00 p.m., at ARCO Arena. The team will then travel to Albuquerque, New Mexico where they will host the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday, May 9, at 6:00 p.m., at The Pit. The final preseason game will be on Saturday, May 13, against the New York Liberty at Madison Square Garden.
