Shock Announces 2006 Preseason Schedule

Auburn Hills, MI -The Detroit Shock announced their 2006 preseason schedule today in preparation for the franchise's ninth WNBA Season.

The Shock will open their 2006 preseason on the road against six-time WNBA All-Star Nykesha Sales and the Eastern Conference Champion Connecticut Sun on Sunday, May 7 at 4 p.m. ET at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. The Shock last played the Sun in the 2005 WNBA playoffs, when the Sun swept the series in two games.

For the second consecutive season the Shock will play a preseason game at the Pepsi Arena in Albany, New York. This year, Detroit will play host to Diana Taurasi and the Phoenix Mercury on Thursday, May 11 at 7:00 PM.

Detroit will finish their preseason schedule on the road in Houston against 2005 League MVP Sheryl Swoopes and the Comets at the Toyota Center on Tuesday, May 16th at 7:30 PM.

The Shock will open their 2006 regular season on the road against three-time WNBA All-Star Tamika Catchings and the Indiana Fever at Conseco Fieldhouse on Saturday, May 20 at 6 p.m. The following Wednesday, May 24, Detroit will open the WNBA's 10th Anniversary season on their home court as they host the Minnesota Lynx at 7:30 p.m. at the Palace of Auburn Hills.
