Monarchs forward Walker announces she's having a baby

SACRAMENTO, CALIF., NOV. 15, 2005 - Sacramento Monarchs forward DeMya Walker announces that she is having a baby and is due in April. Walker is both thrilled and excited and plans to be back and ready to go for the Monarchs 10th Anniversary season in 2006.

"I'm very excited about having a baby," said Walker. "Being a mother is something I'm really looking forward to."

Walker recently finished her third season with the Monarchs after being selected by the franchise as the fifth overall pick in the 2003 WNBA Dispersal Draft. Despite having to sit out 12 games this past season due to a right knee injury, Walker led the Monarchs averaging 14.1 points per game. She appeared in 22 games with 19 starts and also averaged 5.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.3 steals, 0.6 blocks and 27.2 minutes per game. Additionally, the 2005 WNBA All-Star selection was an integral part of the Monarchs winning their first ever WNBA Championship.
