WNBA President Donna Orender headlines 2005 Diversity and Women Leadership Summit and Gala

New York, Nov. 15 - On behalf of the leading women's sports league in the world, WNBA President Donna Orender will deliver a special presentation titled "Women in Basketball: Changing the Landscape" at the annual Diversity and Women Leadership Summit & Gala, taking place November 16-17, at the Marriott Wardman Park in Washington, D.C.

The gathering will include leaders in business, sports, entertainment, government and academia. Expected to attend are Entertainment Legend Liza Minnelli, Associated Press Chairman Burl Osborne, Showtime Networks President Robert Greenblatt, Major League Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig, Grammy Award-winning artist Regina Belle, among others.

In recognition of the growing numbers of women who are sports team owners, sports executives, managers, coaches, sports marketers, sports writers and players, the most prominent women in the industry, WNBA Chief of Basketball Operations & Player Relations Renee Brown and 2005 WNBA Champion Kara Lawson of the Sacramento Monarchs will serve on a panel entitled Women in Sports: New Role Models and Opportunities, on Nov. 17th at 2:00 p.m. Produced by Diversity Best Practices (DBP) and the Business Women's Network (BWN), Brown and Lawson will discuss their experiences and perspectives on the increasing role of women in sports, the rising number of opportunities and the challenges faced in the sports marketplace.

The two-day event will be open to members of the media.
