Mohegan Awards "Name the Mascot Contest" Winner

GROTON, Conn. (March 29, 2003) - The Mohegan Wolves (arenafootball2) announced the winner of their "Name the Mascot Contest" promotion today at the grand re-opening of Fin & Feather Pet Shop in Groton, CT. Eleven-year-old Kenny Dutton of Gales Ferry, CT won the contest for his entry of "Blitz.

On behalf of the Wolves, Dutton received the following prizes for his winning entry:

1.) A special appearance by "Blitz", the Wolves newly named mascot, for his class at Juliet W. Long Elementary School (Gales Ferry), along with members of the Lady Wolves dance team

2.) A Mohegan Wolves t-shirt and four tickets to opening night

3.) A $100 gift certificate to Fin & Feather Pet Shop

An excited Dutton and his parents were all on hand at the event, which gave the family their first chance to meet "Blitz" up close.

As part of their grand re-opening weekend, Fin & Feather is having a number of raffles and giveaways for gifts that no pet or pet lover can do without. Fin & Feather Pet Shop is the official sponsor of "Blitz," the Mohegan Wolves mascot.

Over the course of the past three weeks, over 100 children ages 12 and under entered submissions for the contest through an advertisement that ran in the Norwich Bulletin.

The Wolves 2003 season kicks off on Sat., April 5, vs. the Rochester Brigade at the Mohegan Sun Arena. Every fan through the doors that night will receive a FREE Mohegan Wolves magnet schedule courtesy of the Wolves and game sponsors, AAA, 103.7 FNX Radio and The Day.

Mohegan Sun Arena is the premier entertainment venue in Connecticut. Major sporting events, including championship boxing, professional basketball, tennis and bowling, along with world-renowned entertainers such as Tim McGraw, Gloria Estefan, Janet Jackson and Aerosmith have performed in this 10,000-seat venue.
