Mohawks Use Late Power Surge to Defeat Stallions 14-10

The bats were busy at Cantine Memorial Veterans Field on Saturday, and when the dust cleared the Amsterdam Mohawks (26-11) had a 14-10 win over the Saugerties Stallions (11-24).

The two teams combined for 32 hits in the game.

Chris Givin (Xavier) racked up two RBIs on four hits for the Amsterdam Mohawks. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the second, third, and eighth innings.

Michael Pfenniger (Manhattan College) had a hot bat for the Saugerties Stallions. Pfenniger went 3-5, drove in one and scored two runs. He singled in the third, fifth, and sixth innings.

Tim Naughton improved to 5-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Amsterdam Mohawks. Naughton struck out two, walked none and gave up no hits.

Andrew Workman (Quinnipiac) ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked one, struck out two, and allowed four runs.
