Saugerties Stallions News Release

SAUGERTIES, N.Y. - The Saugerties Stallions six game winning streak came to an end on Sunday with a 5-2 loss against the Amsterdam Mohawks at Cantine Field.

Saugerties would take an early lead as in the bottom of the first inning it was Garrison Berkley who hit a single to bring home Evan Goforth and put the Stallions up one.

From there, starting pitcher Ga'Von Wray would hold that slim lead for the Stallions with four scoreless innings against a potent Mohawks lineup.

In Wray's first start of the season he only allowed three hits while striking out four batters.

Once the Stallions bullpen came in, the Mohawks quickly attacked and brought in three runs in the top of the fifth inning with a double from Gage Miller and a single from Ian Perutz making it a 3-1 Mohawks lead.

The Stallions did get a run back in the bottom half of the inning with a single from Brandon Fish who continues to stay red hot.

Amsterdam would get another run in the top of the seventh on a Brett Coker single and an insurance run in the top of the ninth on a fielder's choice.

In the bottom half, Easton Bertrand led the inning off with a double but the next three batters would be retired to give the Mohawks the 5-2 win.

The Stallions are still looking for their first win over the Mohawks who already clinched the East division title.

These two teams will face off once again this time in Amsterdam on Tuesday following a day off the day before.

First pitch will be at 6:35 p.m.
