Modesto Bearcats Strike Deal With Gold's Gym

September 17, 2008 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Modesto Bearcats News Release

Modesto, CA. Following the Bearcats locking up a place to play and a place for the visiting team to stay, the ABA Modesto team has recently Gold's Gym as an official sponsor for the Modesto Bearcats.

"We are extremely happy to be the exclusive Gym and training facility for the Modesto Bearcats," said Tobias Young, General Manager of Gold's Gym Modesto. "The Bearcats are going to add a huge boost of fun and excitement to the local community, and I can't wait for the season to get started."

It was critical for the Bearcats to get this agreementin place as they move closer to the opening tip of the season that takes place in early December. Official workouts are scheduled to begin in mid-October, but T.J. Walker, Head Coach has a group of players working out with him on a regular basis.

"I knew this is where I wanted my team to work out," T.J. said of the Gold's Gym in North Modesto. "I have seen a lot of gyms over my career and this one stands out as one of the best. We look forward to working with Gold's for a long time."

In addition to the players increasing their workouts in the gym thanks to the newly secured sponsorship with Gold's Gym, they are also ramping up their promotional schedule to excite the community about professional basketball coming to Modesto. They currently have a fundraiser dinner at Hungry Hunter in Modesto on September 18th, an appearance at the KWIN and KBUENO radio stations' customer appreciation day September 20th and the start of their Hoops 4 Health program in October.

Reggie Rucker, Marketing Director with the Bearcats is excited about the ongoing developments with the team. "With the economy struggling the way it is, I think people tend to have reservations about whether or not we can really pull something like this off," Rucker said. "With all of the local businesses getting on board and showing their support for what we are committed to doing in the community, this should reassure everybody and send the message that we are going to be here, and it's okay to believe. Professional basketball is coming to Modesto."
