Minnesota United FC News Release
GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - Minnesota United announced today that the club has signed new contracts for midfielder Jacori Hayes, defenders Brent Kallman and Callum Montgomery, and goalkeeper Adrian Zendejas.
Hayes joined Minnesota via trade ahead of the 2020 season after three years with FC Dallas. The 24-year-old midfielder was selected 18th in the first round of the 2017 MLS SuperDraft by FC Dallas and made his MLS debut against Sporting Kansas City on March 11, 2017. Hayes made his MNUFC debut during the MLS Is Back Tournament against Columbus Crew and quickly became a mainstay on the gameday roster. Throughout the rest of the 2020 season, Hayes provided depth in the central midfield during a compact season and the Loons' playoff run.
Woodbury native Kallman has spent his entire professional career with Minnesota since first joining the club in 2013. With his signing in January 2017, he became the first Minnesotan to join the Loons in MLS. He was a mainstay in Minnesota's defense in 2016 and 2017, using his speed and strength to take down attackers. His height is a huge asset on both ends of the pitch, helping him clear lofted balls out of the MNUFC penalty area and nod crosses into the opponent's net. Throughout five MLS seasons with MNUFC, Kallman has played 67 games, starting 62, with two goals and one assist.
Minnesota traded with FC Dallas for Montgomery in December 2020. The young defender was selected fourth in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft and was a teammate of current Loon, Dayne St. Clair, while on loan at San Antonio FC in 2020. Zendejas was acquired via trade from Nashville SC in September 2020 to bolster a goalkeeper union struggling through injuries during the 2020 regular season.
Transaction: Minnesota United sign new contracts for midfielder Jacori Hayes, defenders Brent Kallman and Callum Montgomery, and goalkeeper Adrian Zendejas.
