
MLS Disciplinary Committee Decisions: Week 34

NEW YORK - The MLS Disciplinary Committee has found Seattle Sounders FC defender Tyrone Mears in violation of the league's policy regarding hands to the face, head or neck of an opponent ( VIDEO ). Mears has been issued an undisclosed fine for his actions in the 8th minute of Seattle's match against Real Salt Lake on October 23. RSL forward Joao Plata also received a yellow card on the play for bringing the game into disrepute.
Additionally, the MLS Disciplinary Committee has suspended Vancouver Whitecaps FC defender Kendall Waston for one game and issued an undisclosed fine for violent conduct in the 25th minute of Vancouver's match against the Portland Timbers on October 23 ( VIDEO ). Since the incident occurred in Vancouver's last game of the 2016 season, Waston will serve the suspension during his first match in 2017.
