MLS Commissioner Don Garber Issues Statement

NEW YORK (Monday, September 15, 2003) - Major League Soccer Commissioner Don Garber today issued the following statement regarding the announcement that the Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA) is suspending operations effective immediately:
"We wish all the WUSA players and administrators well during this difficult time and hope for the best of success for the U.S. Women's National Team in the upcoming World Cup. Although we are disappointed by today's action, we believe this decision has no impact on the future viability of the sport of soccer in the United States. We continue to focus on building stadiums, developing players and expanding our footprint across the United States."
