SACRAMENTO, CALIF., April 28, 2009 - Back-to-back Olympic Beach Volleyball Gold Medalist and Dancing With The Stars contestant Misty May-Treanor will headline the Monarchs 2009 Women of Inspiration Night on Saturday, August 15 as Sacramento takes on the Los Angeles Sparks at 7 p.m. at ARCO Arena.
Women of Inspiration Night is one of seven Special Event Games featured throughout the 2009 Monarchs home schedule, providing a great opportunity for groups of all kinds to experience WNBA basketball.
"Maloof Sports & Entertainment is very excited to bring an inspiring woman such as Misty May-Treanor to Sacramento," said Danette Leighton, vice president of Monarchs business operations. "Misty and her teammate Kerri Walsh are pioneers in the sport of beach volleyball. Their long streak of success with beach volleyball, and Misty's success leading back to her time at Long Beach State, make her an inspiring woman in our eyes and one we are proud to share with the Monarchs fan base and Sacramento."
Each of the Monarchs seven Special Event Games feature unique opportunities for groups:
School Day Game - Thursday, May 27 versus the Phoenix Mercury at 11 a.m.
