
Mississippi Braves Welcome New Manager Aaron Holbert

Pearl, MS - On Tuesday, October 18, the Atlanta Braves announced Aaron Holbert, will be the Mississippi Braves new manager during the 2012 season. Holbert becomes Mississippi's fifth manager in M-Braves history following Rocket Wheeler, who will join the Gulf Coast League Braves during the upcoming year.
When asked about being a part of the Braves Organization, Holbert said, "I feel this is a great opportunity to be part of this respected organization. I am very excited for this opportunity to be managing at a higher level, and I am very interested and excited to be managing in Mississippi."
Following in Rocket Wheeler's footsteps, Holbert will be bringing a fresh set of skills to AA-Mississippi Club. Holbert commented, "I will bring energy and more passion to the organization and will share my expertise to all these young men. I want to share the success this club has had and continue the trend of promoting talent, not just to Triple-A, but to the big leagues.
Holbert joins the M-Braves from the Kinston Indians, the Cleveland Indians High-A Affiliate, where he has been managing since 2010. During his tenure with Kinston, he led the team to two back-to-back playoff division series, winning the Carolina League's Southern Division in 2011. Additionally, he was named by Baseball America as the best manager at the Advance-A Level and named as the 2011 Carolina League Manager of the Year.
Holbert began his managerial career with the Lake County Captains, Cleveland's Low-A Affiliate, in 2008 and returned again as manager in 2009. Before his career with the Indians Low-A Affiliate, Holbert coached for the Cincinnati Reds Organization with Gulf Coast League Cardinals in 2006 as well as coached for the Rookie League Billings Mustangs in 2007.
Prior to his managing and coaching career, Holbert received his experience as a professional player in the St. Louis Cardinals Organization. As a first round Cardinals draft pick in 1990, Holbert spent the next few years in their Minor League System and made brief appearances in the Majors with St. Louis in 1996 and Cincinnati in 2005. Over the course of his career, Holbert played professionally with eight different organizations which included St. Louis, Seattle, Tampa Bay, Boston, Florida, Toronto, Pittsburgh and Cincinnati until retiring and beginning his coaching and managerial career in 2006.
