
Mississauga Power for Typhoon Haiyan Relief

(Mississauga, ON -) On November 7, Typhoon Haiyan devastated the Visayan Region in the Philippines which has resulted in 5,000 fatalities, 1,600 missing, 80,000 people displaced and an estimated 320,000 houses destroyed. Risk modeling specialists have estimated a total economic loss of $6.5 to $15 billion dollars.
The Mississauga Power would like to offer aid and support to the victims who are in dire need of assistance during these times. On December 15th, join the Mississauga Power for a Filipino Cultural Night as they host the Ottawa SkyHawks at the Hershey Centre. "Typhoon Haiyan Relief" will be set up to help raise funds for the victims in the Philippines. A portion from ticket sales will be donated to this cause. Fans are encourage to make monetary donations at any of the booths set up throughout the Hershey Centre, as well as participate in the 50/50 draw, silent auction, and other fun opportunities that will be available for fans to contribute towards the relief efforts. All monies raised will be provided to the Filipino Centre Toronto in conjunction with Our Lady of The Assumption Church Home of the Filipino Catholic Mission
"As a Filipino-Canadian this typhoon hits close to my heart. With Mississauga and the Greater Toronto Area's huge Filipino population, we wanted to use this game as a way to unite the Filipino community and give back in a big way." said Mississauga Power's Manager of Operations, Jesse Asido. "The more people we can get in the building, the bigger the contribution we can make to those back home. Power in numbers!"
