WESTPORT, Conn. (Monday, March 20, 2006) - Major Indoor Soccer League Commissioner Steve Ryan released the following statement Monday regarding the events following the conclusion of the Baltimore Blast and the California Cougars match on the night of Saturday, March 18:

"The League has launched an immediate review and investigation into the incidents that occurred following the conclusion of the Major Indoor Soccer League match between the Baltimore Blast and the host California Cougars on March 18 at Stockton Arena.

"The conduct and actions of Baltimore Head Coach Tim Wittman are being thoroughly reviewed and assessed. There is absolutely no room in our game for any physical mistreatment of an MISL Game Official. Any such misconduct that occurred on March 18 will be dealt with once the League has completed its review of any relevant materials and accounts offered by any individuals involved with the incident, as well as the official game reports filed following the match."

Based on preliminary findings, egregious physical and violent conduct may have occurred against two game officials in California. Mr. Wittman is hereby suspended from any MISL or Baltimore Blast related activities for the remainder of the 2005-06 MISL regular season and for the duration of the 2006 MISL Championship Series. The MISL will make additional announcements once the incident has been fully reviewed.
