Syracuse Silver Knights News Release
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse Silver Knights (MISL #4) will travel for Game 2 of the Semifinal Series against the Baltimore Blast (MISL #1) in a decisive match at 7:35 p.m. EST at the Baltimore Arena.
Tuesday's second leg is Game 2 of a Best of 3 Series in the Semifinals between the Silver Knights and Blast. The Orange, Silver and Black dropped Game 1 on Friday, conceding early to fall 20-7 to the defending MISL Champions at the Oncenter War Memorial Arena.
The Knights must win the series' Game 2 on Tuesday at the Baltimore Arena in order to have a shot at advancing to the MISL Championship Series. If Syracuse wins, it will force a decisive 15-minute mini-match immediately played after the completion of Game 2. Coach Tommy Tanner's club needs to win both fixtures to advance.
Tuesday's second leg contest will be Syracuse's second-ever playoff match. The Knights lost Game 1, as the Blast got a six-point effort from former Syracuse Salty Dog FW Adauto Neto to take the 1-0 series lead.
The 2014 MISL Semifinals series will mark the first time that the Syracuse Silver Knights have played in the postseason. The club's only playoff experienced player is former Blast FW Machel Millwood. The Jamaican won four MISL titles in 182 total games with Baltimore, including one final title last year. Danny Kelly's team has 14 players from the Maryland side's 2013 MISL Championship squad.
Historically, the Blast owns a 12-3 all-time record against the Knights. The Charm City club owns a 5-2 mark at the Baltimore Arena.
In the 2014 MISL regular season, Syracuse went 1-3 against Baltimore. The Knights took the first match between the sides, getting a game-winning goal from DF Bo Jelovac with 58 seconds left. The Blast won the final three meetings, including the last regular season clash, a 10-9 victory back on February 22. The Maryland side has outscored Coach Tommy Tanner's team 40-33 over the four fixtures.
Tuesday's match will be broadcast live on YouTube on the Blast's official page. Baltimore's coverage will begin at 7:35 p.m. EST. The game will be available shortly after its completion as on-demand content.
