Miracles Take Four in 2015 NBLC Draft

On November 28, 2015, the National Basketball League of Canada held its fiÂfth entry draft. The Miracles acquired four new players through the draft.
Before the draft began Moncton traded the overall sixth pick and the rights to Dwayne Smith to the Island Storm. In return, the Miracles received the overall second pick and the rights to Cordell Jeanty from the Storm.
With the second pick in the draft, the Miracles selected six-foot-seven forward Brandan Kearney. Kearney played his senior year at the University of Detroit Mercy where he averaged 6.3 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game for the Titans. He received the Larry Doyle Most Dedicated Titan award at an end-of-the-year banquet. With the 10th pick in the draft the Miracles selected six-foot-10 centre Trevor Gruis.
Gruis played four years at the University of South Dakota where he averaged 5.8 boards and 11.3 points in his senior year. He spent the 2014-15 season playing in Sweden where he averaged 13 points and 6 rebounds in 26.1 minutes of play.
The Miracles selected Julian Lewis with their final pick in 2015 NBLC Draft. Lewis is a six-foot-six forward out of Lewis University. In his senior season at Lewis he started in all 31 games for the Flyers. He averaged 6.9 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. Lewis was selected to the All-GLVC Defensive Team for three straight seasons. He was the recipient of the David Delahanty Award which is given to student-athletes for academic excellence and was named to the Academic All-GLVC Team.
The Miracles begin training camp in two weeks at Crandall University. The Miracles will play their fiÂrst home game of the regular season on December 27 at the Moncton Coliseum.
