Moncton Miracles News Release
(Moncton, NB) The Moncton Miracles are pleased to announce the addition of Zack Atkinson and Daquan Brooks to their roster.
Zack Atkinson is a 6'9 centre from Bishopville, South Carolina that played his college years at UC Irvine. Atkinson has travelled the globe for basketball and has played in leagues in Australia, Taiwan, New Zealand, Czech Republic, Iraq and Columbia. While in New Zealand he was named Player of the Year, Forward of the Year, Import Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and as a First Team All-Star.
Daquan Brooks is a 5'9 left handed point guard is from Western Connecticut State. This fiery guard is the all-time leading scorer at his college scoring 2,269 points in his four years there. Brooks averaged 28 points per game as a senior has spent time with Maine Red Claws of the NBA Developmental League.
Both Atkinson and Brooks will arrive this week and get some practices in with the Miracles squad before the game against the A's Saturday. They will both be dressed for the game pending FIBA clearance.
"We are very excited with both Zack and Daquan joining the team," said Miracles General Manager Joe Salerno. "We feel both will make an immediate impact and provide us with skill sets that will round us out as a team. Zack is an experienced professional with the right body and quickness for post play in the NBL. He has been a consistent double-double player wherever he has played professionally. And Daquan is one of those rare, super-exciting players that truly make things happen on the court. He is a scoring point guard who in his senior year at Western Connecticut was third in the nation in scoring in the states. I think our fans in Moncton will see right away the positive difference these two players will make for the Miracles."
Harold Washington and Jason Conrad have been released from the Miracles. The organization would like to thank them for their contribution and wish them the best of luck in the future.
The Miracles next home game is scheduled for Saturday, December 6th against the Brampton A's. Tip-off is 7pm at the Moncton Coliseum.
