
Miracles Lose on the Road to the Power

(Oshawa, ON) The Moncton Miracles, presented by Rogers, lost to the Oshawa Power with a final score of 100-102. The Miracles now sit with a 11-14 record.
The Power came out with something to prove after losing their last two games and had an early 0-10 lead against the Miracles. Oshawa would lead by as many as 16 points in the first quarter with Moncton shooting 20.00% they would be down 17-31 after the first 12 minutes.
Oshawa would continue to lead for the second quarter with Moncton pushing to shorten the spread. With just under a minute left to play Moncton would bring the game within reach and would end the half trailing by 6 points, 45-51. Darrell Wonge led the Miracles with 11 points while Nick Okorie and Mark Gomillia both had 12 points for the Power.
Moncton would come out strong at the beginning of the second half and by the 9 minute mark Micah Brand's shot gave the Miracles a 57-56 lead, which would be their first lead of the game. Oshawa would later go on a 15-0 run to take over Moncton's 86-83 lead and surpass them 86-98. The Miracles would do their best to make a second comeback but could not pull through in the end.
Devin Sweetney led the way for the Miracles with 31 points. Oliver McNally followed with 19 points and Darrell Wonge with 13.
Papa Oppong was the force for the Power with 21 points. Mark Gomillia was next with 20 points and Larry Diamond with 18.

The Miracles will then be attending the Hoop Classic Brunch on Saturday, January 12th. On the morning of January 14th the players will be visiting Lou MacNairn to talk about their School Pride Program. They will also be going to West Riverview School, Frank L. Bowser, and Lower Coverdale School this upcoming week.
The Miracles play their next game on the road on Thursday, January 10th against the London Lightning. The next game at home is Sunday, January 13th against the Saint John Mill Rats. Tip-off is 2pm at the Moncton Coliseum.
