Miracles Crushed by the Storm

(Moncton, NB) The Moncton Miracles were taken by the Summerside Storm with a final score of 94-87.

The first quarter began with the Storm having a hot hand, which followed them to the end of the quarter. Avery Smith hit some far our three's that cause the Miracles to re-examine their defense. Moncton battled back but Greg Plummer put the nail in the coffin in this quarter with a buzzer beater 3 to give them a 23-18 advantage going in to the second quarter.

Moncton came out strong in the second quarter showing everyone why they are currently ranked #1 in the Atlantic Division. They outscored Summerside 26-17 with Devin Sweetney leading the way with 12 points.

Issa Konare and Avery Smith both finished the first half for the Storm each with 11 points. The Miracles pulled ahead at the half 44-40 hoping to hang on for the last 24 minutes to continue to lead their division.

The third quarter went basket for basket and at the 6-minute mark the game was one again tied up at 50-50. The game was still tied up at 69-69 with 7:30 left to play in the game, until the Storm started to pull ahead. They game ended with the Storm finishing on top taking back the number one ranking in the division.

Devin Sweetney led the way for the Miracles with 23 points and 7 rebounds. Oliver McNally followed with 19 points.

Issa Konare was the top scorer for the Storm with 20 points. Avery Smith was right behind him with 15 points.

Miracles Darrell Wonge was given a technical foul as well as Storm's Nick Evans. Moncton's Darrell Wonge and Sylvania Watkins were both fouled out along with Summerside's Brandon Hassell.

The Miracles play their next game against the Montreal Jazz on Sunday, November 25th. Tip-off is 4pm at the Pierre-Charbonneau Centre. The next home game will be Tuesday, November 27th against the Summerside Storm.
